Fierce Lion Cut

I took a few pictures last week on my camera without the memory card in it. The problem is that I have no idea how to get these photos off the camera. Somehow, I am only able to get the off my memory card. It's crazy! I can browse through the photos on the camera, but can not figure out how to get them onto my computer.

Anyhow, I took this photo of Spunky. It's not as good as the ones I have on my camera, but it will have to do since I can't figure out how to get the other ones off.



I'm still pretty bad at the "Lion Cut". Poor Spunky is such a trooper, though. She doesn't bite me or scratch me at all. She complains a little, but not in an annoying way. Perhaps it's because she knows she gets lots of treats when it's done. And, bad or good worse, Spunky always owns her lion cut and never lets a bad haircut ruin her day!

The truth is, Spunky looks like a caricature kitty with the lion cut. Her face and tail look so much bigger than her body; it's not proportional at all. In fact, it's quite funny. She has the usual uneven spots. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to master the lion cut (#15), but I'm definitely getting better each time. The best part is that it grows back; so any mistakes that I do make are not permanent!

It's the start of another week of teaching, classes, tutoring, babysitting, studying, lesson planing and tacking my ever-long to-do list. I hope this week involves more sleep than the last one did!

Easiest $50 I have ever made.

I sampled a few of Subway's breakfast sandwiches and then answered some questions as to their taste. In return for opinion, they gave me $50. No catch. No gimmicks.

That's $50 less that I owe for tuition!

Tuesday Randomness.

I love this picture of M. I took it a few weeks ago in downtown LA. There is something about M walking past the pattern of arches and lights that captivates me.

I left my camera in the third grade classroom, so even though I found my camera cord, I have no camera to hook up to it! I am hoping that it is still there when I show up tomorrow morning! [Nice one, Leni.]

Tonight after tutoring, I am going to drive up to see M for "dinner with a client". I see it as a fun dinner where I get to dress up. (I haven't had one of those in a long time.)

 

Some random things:

• I am finally back into the groove of juggling tutoring, teaching, babysitting, and being a student and it feels good. [Although, finding time for myself has become nearly impossible.]
• My roommate search has been unsuccessful so far. Err.
• More recently, M and I have been discussing details about our wedding. We still don't have a wedding date, but at least there's more talk about the where and who.
• I am becoming more and more comfortable teaching lately. I have little to no anxiety about having to teach the 31 students on my own while being observed by a teacher who has taught first grade for over 20 years. That feels good.
• My blog reader is back to 1000+.
• We won our first soccer game last week!
• I don't mind having to get up at 6 everyday (assuming I'm in bed sometime between 10 and 11pm the night before!)

 

Another busy week

Spunky got a haircut this past weekend. Above is a before picture. All last night and all morning she has been in bed. I think she's too cold to get up. I feel really bad. It's a good thing we'll be having weather in the high 70's all week. I'll have a photo of her tomorrow if I can figure out where the cord to my camera is.

I have a busy week this week. The best part, is that I don't have my late classes on Wednesday! I still have to tutor every day, so that's good! I'm still a ways away from paying off my last quarter's tuition, but, luckily, I still have some time.

Let's get this week off to a great start! Go!

Ready, Set, Go!

I wish I could say that I slept in this morning, but that would anything but true. I was up at 6, as usual. Because I'm house-sitting for my master teacher, I don't have internet access. I fed the dog and cat, then went back to my house to spend some time with Spunky and work on an assignment that I needed to submit online before class this morning.

I have a lesson plan due by Sunday night, babysitting from 7:30 to 11:30am on both Saturday and Sunday, two hours of tutoring on Sunday evening, house-sitting jobs to do everyday and class readings to finish at some point. Clearly it's not going to be a very relaxing weekend. I am going to have to find a little bit of time at some point to relax so that I don't start the week already burnt out.

Free Groceries

M was nice enough to let me go grocery shopping from his kitchen cupboards while I was there over this past weekend. Like I said before, I am trying to live off of the food that I already have in my cupboards and see if I can go without buying anything between now and when I have saved up and paid for my last quarter of tuition. M gave me some mayonnaise to go with the cans of tuna that I already have and some jelly to go with the jar of peanut butter and bread that I have. He even gave me some extra peanut butter just in case! Among the bag full of items are soup mix, cereal, candy, chocolate covered cherries and oranges just to name a few.

While I still have a lot of food in my cupboards, I was able to add a little variety to my current selection. I am pretty sure that I will not have to buy any groceries for at least a few weeks. I have some soy milk that will last me through the end of February, but my regular milk is almost empty and it expires on Sunday. It will be hard to go without milk. At least I have soy milk for my morning cereal!

I have pretty much eaten all of the fresh vegetables that I own. In regards to fruit, I only have a few apples and two oranges left. These probably wont last more than a week. Other than that, I have some frozen vegetables in my freezer. I hate frozen vegetables, but I can't really be picky right now. Food is food.

 

Early Morning Starbucks Date

M and I had an early morning breakfast date together at Starbucks this morning. It reminded me of old times. After breakfast, I was able to get some planning done for teaching this week.

Today is going to be a busy day. I need to:

• Observe parent/teacher conferences
• Finish putting together my teaching binder
• Journal article summaries (homework due on Wednesday)
• Tutor
• Go running (it's been too long!)
• Give Spunky a haircut

It's Tuesday and it feels like Monday. That always means it's going to be a good week!

 

Busy Monday

 

I totally jinxed myself. I'm sick again. I'm hoping that it doesn't last quickly! I spent most of the weekend catching up on sleep and blogs. My blog reader is as a more manageable 562 unread blog posts. Much better than the 1000+ it has been saying for the last month or so!

I'll be spending the day babysitting, tutoring and getting ready for my first supervisor teaching observation that I have tomorrow morning.

Here's to a productive Monday on this beautiful 80 degree California day!
