I feel a lot like the lions in the photo above. I must say that this week has been, by far, the roughest week I have had in a long time. On Monday and Tuesday, I spoke with some people about the inappropriate and illegal things that my boss has done and said to me: Over-time that goes unpaid. Not getting a lunch or break some days. Inappropriate and degrading comments and actions. Borderline verbal abuse on a few occasions. Unprofessional behavior in front of others. [Which is all really unfortunate, because I really like my boss as a person, just not as a boss. Had I met her outside of work, we would be friends.]
Then, on Wednesday morning, I told my boss that I was quitting and the reasons why. I tried to be nice and told her that I would not be leaving until August 12 and that I wanted to give her enough time to find a replacement. At that time, she asked if I would stay until August 31 -- which of course I didn't want to do, but agreed that I could stay until the 20th. Then yesterday morning, in an emotional, awkward and angry conversation, she suggested that it would be better if I left earlier, like I originally proposed. [Which actually works better for me!] So, August 6th will be my last day of work. I am counting down the days.
I am really looking forward to spending the next two days recuperating from this rough week. I hope that I am able to find the strength to get through the next two weeks (which I also expect to be awkward and rough). I am looking forward to spending some time with my sisters in Irvine, having brunch at my favorite cafe (Alta Coffee), lounging by the pool and catching up on lost sleep.
Photo of lions [named Panaiotis and Christos] taken by me.
I have to work for a few hours today, but then I will be driving to Irvine to spend some time with my two favorite sisters! It's the baby's birthday today and we have a special surprise planned for her!
Over the weekend, I found myself at a ranch that had four beautiful horses. This is the closest I have EVER come to a horse. Sure, I have seen them many times from afar. Maybe even pet a pony or two at a petting zoo, but never any large, beautiful horses. I was too scared to actually touch them, but I did feed one some hay!
My second letter for the alphabet blog hop is the letter X. I thought that it would be a challenge, but as it turns out ... it was easier than to do than the letter E!
